Like the' Tale of Two Cities' , It was the best time and it was the worst. We just raised our head after the drownning experience in the whirling blood of Communal riots and was enjoying the free-wil ( a myth ) of 'freedom after Mid night'. The great leader wanted to bring the big change and announced to hang all the CORRUPTs by the NEXT LAMP - POST.
I was doing a job (Gazetted officer with Rs 475/= pm{ even [domestic sevants would make cynical smile]. But I was as happy as any one for with Rs 13o/==pm I had a two room acomodation in Karol Bagh and had enough for my monthly expenditure. And I tried to know everything of the Capital Delhi and around.
The OATH taking had little effect on the CITy and society.Those were the days of thousand or a few thousand 'BRIBE-ERA 'and not THOUSANDs of Crores SCAM -Sport of these days.
If you were in NEW DELHI you must have known CONNAUGHT CIRCUS/Place and some 5 -star shops like Bondit Bros or KHOKA - DA HOTEL.
Just accept the invitation card of 'Birth day' or 'Rice eating Ceremony' and with the invitation card (marked) go there and Buy in thousand or entertain any number of guest with lavish food and you have to pay NOTHING ! ...That much sweet & Charming was the advent of FREEDOM !
There will me a printing number on the Invitation Card that will do better than any Modern Credit- Card. So no harm in taking any oath !
