In Late 1950s while in CENTRAL SERVICE , HM Gulzarilal Nanda issued a CIRCUAR for all Govt officers to read and sign a paper promising, not to take or give bribe.
Gov T, PrKASH WAS A PERSONAL FRIEND OF J.N. NEHRU AND IN THAT MEETING Mr NEHRU JOKED AND ASKED THE GOVERNOR , IF HE TOOK THE OATH OR NOT.
THE GOVERNOR TOLD THAT HE SIGNED THAT SIDE WHERE HE HAD TO PROMISE NOT TO TAKE ANY BRIBE BECAUSE, IT WAS EASY JOB FOR HIM, AS NOT EVEN A CAT GIVES BRIBE TO A GOVERNOR. BUT THE PAGE WHERE HE HAD TO SIGN TO PROMISE NOT TO GIVE BRIBE , HE DID NOT.
NEHRU ASKED -'wWHY'?
AND HE REPLIED SHARP that HE COULD NOT HAVE COME TO THAT DAY'S CONFERENCE FOR, HE HAD TO PAY rs 20/= FOR HIS RAIL TICKET FOR SMART BOOKIMG.
THEY BOTH LAUGHED AND (?) ENJOYED .
THAT WAS MORE THAN HALF A CENTURY BACK WHEN RS 20 /= WAS MORE THAN RS2000/= OF TO DAY AND COMPUTERISED BOOKING WAS NOT EVEN IN THE WOMB OF RLY.
AND RAIL WAY WAS THE BEST SERVICE FOR BOON , BRIBE AND BONANZA.
NEXT STORY FROM mu SHORT MEMORY --NEXT TIME. (CONTD)
For my Legal SAFETY - this is a SOLILOQUY, I certify.
